First Feeding

She did surprisingly well, accepting the spoon and even swallowing a little bit. She probably consumed 1/10 of what was put into her mouth, but it was a success! After a while, she began blowing bubbles in the spoon as it was brought to her lips in an unbelievably cute buzz.
I fed her solo tonight, with a similiar amount of success, although she burnt out before the bubbles came.

New York & Vermont
ROAD TRIP!

After a too-brief visit in Saranac Lake, we moved on to Vermont for our friend's Nic & Kate's wedding. It proved to be a wonderfully classy gala with awesome live jazz & swing music and the best food. Kate was stunning and Nic was dapper. Evvie got to wear bloomers for the first time, and sure did get a few comment! This was her first wedding, and I think she handled it well (although dad did duck out of the ceremony with her once). She was good on the trip, but got a little burnt out toward the end- all that carseat restriction really got to her by the time we finally arrived home.

Teeth?

Change is difficult.
Coincidence of spring cold? She's had a bit of a runny nose for a four or five days now. She's not as cranky as she was on the first few days of the cold, and we're trying to determine if the runny nose is related to teething. Old wives tales and mothers say definitely, doctors say there's no evidence.
This whole parenting this is just a constant flight by the seat of our pants.
18 years from now, our pants will be pretty worn out.

Birthday in Turner

Last weekend was the big birhtday for 4 year old Ava and 1 year old Iris, Evvie's wonderful cousins in Turner. Evelyn made a big splash with her entrance, being hugged by Iris and held by Ava.
A good time was had by all.

A Quick Smith Visit

It was fun sorting out the confusion of exactly who "Uncle Jay" was, and Ruby the dog found her name being repeated even when she wasn't being spoken to...

Dem Blues

The harmonica.
You heard me.
Luckily you don't need to hit any particular notes or even carry a tune. She especially likes the high notes, and though I've been working on folk favorite "Blowin' in the Wind" she prefers the rugged beauty of "Home on the Range". Perhaps we'll raise a cowgirl.
