Flag Day

I didn't even know what "Flag Day" was until I had a friend whose birthday fell on it. "June 14," he said. "It's really easy to remember, because it's Flag Day."

Sure.



But they sure celebrate Flag Day at Story Hour! Look at the pre-4th of July patriotism-inducing revelry that's going on here! It's enough to make you want to drive a tank into a foreign country and occupy it in the name of "Manifest Destiny" or "Our National Strategic Interests".

Well, it's at least enough to make me hungry for apple pie.

Evelyn was so caught up in the moment that she led the parade through the library whilst tapping two sticks together in time for the marching. She does love a parade.

Pool Pop

It's a rough life, but Evelyn's trying hard to keep cool.

It's just been sunshine & swimming, pools & popsicles this past gorgeous week. Evvie's going to try to make it a point to fit into her bathing suit this summer, & I'm going to do the same

(only my size and hers will be heading in opposite directions).

Evvie Finds a Snail

Beach Day!

THe family took this blast of a heat wave to Reid State Park on Sunday and had a good 'ol family beach day. Daddy got to reroute the stream, which became Evvie's waterslide!


Eventually we went over the bridge and under the tunnel that drains the lagoon at low tide.


For a brief period of time Evelyn's feet disappeared. Some minor panic ensued, but they turned up again before long.
