Although a little small at this point, Evvie seems ready and willing to fetch me a fresh brain when my monster creation is ready.
Now about that lightning...

Fuzzy Towel Wrap
Evvie took another bath today. She loves kicking her feet so much that water splashes out of the tub all over mommy and daddy. Yeah. She also is very fond of the colorful hippo toy that squirts water on her chest. He's her "bathappotamus", and he's quite fond of Evvie, too.
Now, this picture was taken about four minutes after she came out of the bath. If I had snapped it sooner, we would have an "Angry Evvie" situation.
As much as she loves the bath, she hates to come out...and she's not afraid to let us know.

I'm Getting How Many Shots?
Today we went to the doctor for a checkup and an onslaught of immunizations. This, my friends, is difficult. I've never heard Evvie scream so loud. She didn't like the first one, was sure the second one was going to kill her, then slipped into a state of satanic possession for the shots that followed. DTaP, IPV, Hib, and Pneumococcal. I barely think the trauma is worth it.
Here are her stats:
Head Circ: 15.5" (75%)
So, for right now she's a shorty. Who'dathunkit?
The good news is she won't need another shot for two months. Perhaps I'll be ready for it...

Mobile of Fascination
Grandma Sue got Evvie a mobile for Christmas, and boy does she enjoy watching it go 'round! It's made of geometric shapes and plays Bach to stimulate the infant's developing brain. Both Hallie & I already see a difference. She's composed an aria of gurgling sounds such as the world has never heard. Not to mention the Jackson Pollock inspired artwork we find many times daily in her diapers!

Christmas in the Adirondacks
WHEW!
We just returned from a week on the road- spending Christmas with the Princes, a quick visit with Suzanne in Vermont, then a second Christmas with the Smith clan. Evelyn was great- just taking it all in while Griffin and Ruby showed her what Christmas is really all about. Santa brought them all matching pajamas and Griffin exerted his maturity as the eldest ranking cousin by gently holding Evvie up for the camera.Ruby paid a lot of attention to the new baby. She seemed to take the news well that she was not the baby, at least for a few days. We peeked in on Evvie in her cozy bassinet.
Griffin enjoyed his new dinosaur, although Jason narrowly escaped being devoured.
Hallie had fun reading to G & R after the torn bits of wrapping paper had settled and a quiet moment presented itself. Both kids did remarkably well when Evvie vocalized her many needs.
It was also a trip with many firsts. Baby's first Christmas. Tip of the iceberg. Evvie's first chance meeting her Uncles Byron and Jason, Auntie's Bobbi & Zoe, and cousins Ruby and Griffin. It was Evvie's first car ride over an hour in duration. It was Evvie's first trip out of state. And on Friday, Evvie had her first snowshoe adventure. I'm not sure she knew what was going on, as she promptly fell asleep when the cold air hit her cheeks. Dad sure had fun lugging her in the sling.
After a tearful goodbye we made our return to Maine with a brief stopover with Nic & Kate in Montpelier- we'll be back for a wedding in April!
In reflection, we are amazed at how well Evvie traveled and adapted to the constantly changing faces, sounds and locations. We are extremely relieved to be home, though, with a routine that is less stressful.
