Reading With Rover

Evelyn took a trip with Grammy to the library for a special "Reading with Rover" (real name: Connor) literacy fun day. Here are a few highlights.

Daddy and Mama love to see that she gets healthy snack at Grammy's house, too! (although the "snowman" was pleading not to have his arm bitten off at the time).

When's that little darlin' Coming?

...because Evelyn has a lot of love to share!

"Come on out and join the family, baby!"

That's Snow Fun

Another big New England Storm cancellled schoool on Monday and gav us another great opportunity to enjoy the winter. (Although, speaking personally, I've enjoyed about all the winter that I have the capacity for at this point!)

We built a skinny snowman and played for a long while in the new white stuff. It's all a pretense for drinking hot cocoa, though!

Here's a sweet one.

Here's a bizarre one.

That's Not Breakfast!

...what sort of craziness goes on around there in the mornings?

Evelyn has been asking about the baby all the time. She's ready to be a big sister, and especially fired up about all of the new things she will be able to teach the new baby...from walking to talking to galloping to peeing on the potty.

I worry a little that after the initial honeymoon period she'll be disappointed at how little the baby can do, how much of our attention she/he takes up, and how much noise she/he makes. We're starting at a really good place, though, and nothing is going to change the fact that Evelyn is older, knows more, and will be looked up to by the new baby.

Making Cookies

Happy Valentines Day! Evvie made gingerbread cookies almost all by herself!

Here's how it's done...

SNOW DAY!

After shovelling the roof we were left with a huge snowpile. It didn't take much ingenuity to carve it into a great snowslide! Too bad the playground will be melted in a few months.

After that, we carved paths around the rhodendron, up to the compost pile...everywhere!. When we were done, there were plenty of paths for getting around every corner f the yard!

The Tool Set

One of Evelyn's favorite presents this year was her tool bench. It seems to be a nice counterpoint to the gobs of pink that she seems so fond of.

Saranac Lake

We spent New Years' on the Great White North Country of Saranac Lake. First Night was incredible- we got to see Auntie Zoe do some rhythmic African dancing- which left a real impression on Evvie. Seeing a relative up on stage was mighty impressive indeed!

Of course, no trip to Saranac Lake would be complete without a ski trip. Evvie's getting more comfortable, although she likes the downhill skiing more than the uphill skiing. (Don't we all).

Going uphill is a lot of work for Daddy.

Going downhill..not so much!

Christmas #2 and the Great Grampini

Grampa Jim, Grandma Sue, Uncle Butch and Aunt Bobbi came over in a great northern migration from Saranac Lake a few days after Christmas for another Christmas celebration! Later that evening, the Great Grampini made a magical debut of tricks and spells which captivated Evelyn to no end. She hounded Grampa for the next few days of their visit to "do magic, do magic!"

Ta DA!

Bed time.
